Motion Narrative: The Nature of Code
Motion | Spring, 2022
This animation explores Daniel Shiffman's The Nature of Code, a textbook educating its readers on Processing (a programming language). Without borrowing from cinema, the objective of this project was to generate a title sequence that represented the book's narrative.
Given my recent obsession with blurring design and development, I made it a point to reduce the usage of keyframes and instead integrated expressions wherever I deemed appropriate. Some sequences even took direct inspiration from the book's teachings — essentially translating programming concepts into editing software.
The final solution builds on Shiffman's intended story, utilising the chapter structure to create a narrative, guiding the observer through a selection of concepts found within the book.
